CM Punk talks ‘pushing through’ in WWE with Kevin Hart

CM Punk appeared on a recent episode of Cold As Balls Live with host Kevin Hart, talking about a number of topics while taking the proverbial plunge into cold tubs.

When asked about his “pipebomb” promo from July 2011, weeks before his WWE Championship match against John Cena at Money in the Bank, Punk responded:

There is an element of, like, narcissism to it. ‘No man, I’m the best,’ and you can respect everybody else around you, but you can know within your heart and your mind that ‘…I am the best in the world, I am the best at what I do.’

That was me throughout that whole two, three years, and I knew if I got to do things my way it would be good and it would be quality. It wouldn’t sacrifice anything, we wouldn’t get thrown off the air, but I feel I was part of that new guard that had to push through. You couldn’t get through to some of the old heads.

I just felt I was at the pinnacle, and my voice wasn’t being heard. The fans’ voice wasn’t being heard, so I took it upon myself to…stir the pot.

The former WWE Champion also talked about who inspired him to be a pro wrestler, and what life has been like with his wife AJ Lee between his departure from WWE and Lee’s return for Wrestlepalooza.
