Mattia Binotto has expressed confidence that Audi will make its Formula One debut with both credibility and a strong foundation. As the former Ferrari team principal now leading the Sauber based operation that will become Audi’s works team in 2026, Binotto emphasized that the project is progressing well and significant preparations have already been made. He pointed to Sauber’s improved performance this season, including their highest points tally since 2012 and a surprise podium by Nico Hülkenberg, as evidence of the team’s growing momentum.
Binotto acknowledged that it will take time for Audi to become a top contender and urged patience as the team adapts to new technical regulations and the challenges of entering Formula One. He highlighted the backing from major stakeholders such as the Qatar Investment Authority and Revolut, which provide financial stability and credibility to the long term plan. While he noted that Audi is not expected to immediately have the strongest power unit or challenge for wins, Binotto believes the foundation being built now sets the team on a path toward future success.
