California has awarded tax credits to twenty eight new film and television projects as part of its ongoing effort to support the local entertainment industry and create jobs. The latest round of incentives is expected to generate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity while providing work for thousands of cast and crew members throughout the state.
Among the recipients is Snoop Dogg who will produce an untitled biopic in California. The project received approximately seventeen million dollars in tax credits and is set to begin production in 2026. The film is expected to employ numerous cast and crew members over several weeks of shooting while spending millions on qualified local expenditures. Snoop Dogg expressed his gratitude for the support and emphasized the personal and professional significance of filming the project in his home state.
Producer Scott Budnick also benefited from the tax credit program for his upcoming film Guerrero directed by Gina Rodriguez. His project is part of the initiative to promote culturally significant storytelling while supporting the local workforce.
The expanded Film and Television Tax Credit Program reflects California's commitment to maintaining its position as a global hub for filmmaking.
