AEW Dynamite’s December 3 Episode Shows a Mixed Signal in TV Ratings

AEW Dynamite’s December 3 episode on TBS brought in 496000 viewers which has become an interesting talking point for wrestling fans and analysts. The number represents a small decline from the previous week’s 512000 viewers and also sits below the recent four week average of around 525000. While the drop is not dramatic it does point to a shift in viewing patterns and a possible cooling period for the show on traditional cable television.

The new Nielsen measurement system that blends big data with traditional panels has changed how audience numbers look across the entire television landscape. In that context numbers for shows like Dynamite appear lower than past years even when overall fan engagement remains strong across digital platforms. Compared with the same time last year the show is noticeably down as December 2024 episodes averaged close to 595000 viewers. This paints a picture of a show adjusting to a changing ecosystem rather than simply losing interest.

What makes the episode stand out though is that the on screen product received positive reactions. The Continental Classic tournament delivered competitive matches and several storylines progressed in ways that kept dedicated fans excited. The women’s division also stepped up with a dramatic semifinal in the tag title tournament which added emotional weight to the card. Critics and wrestling reviewers generally praised the creativity and effort shown throughout the night.

The contrast between solid creative output and slightly declining viewership raises an important point. A large portion of AEW’s audience has shifted toward streaming on demand viewing and clipped digital content. These fans are still consuming Dynamite but not always in live cable numbers. As a result the 496000 figure may not fully represent the show’s true reach or momentum.
