ITV has partnered with the Film and TV Charity to launch a new pilot programme aimed at supporting freelancers working in the film and television industry. The initiative, called The ITV Green Room, is designed to help experienced freelancers stay connected, build skills, and gain mentorship while they search for their next role. The programme responds to challenges many freelancers face between jobs, including isolation and uncertainty, and seeks to provide practical support alongside community engagement.
The pilot will involve a group of twenty freelancers who will have access to workspace at ITV’s White City office in London one day a week. Participants will also take part in training sessions, workshops, and events covering topics such as adapting to industry changes, including the impact of AI, and improving professional tools such as CVs. Mentoring from ITV staff will guide freelancers through the programme, offering insights and support to help them prepare for future opportunities.
Organisers hope the initiative will help reduce the isolation often associated with freelance work and boost confidence and wellbeing. The programme also creates a platform for freelancers to connect with peers, exchange experiences, and build lasting professional relationships. ITV’s Mental Health Advisory Group and the Film and TV Charity emphasise that this combination of community support and skill development is essential to sustaining freelance talent across the industry.
