Christian Cage’s The Patriarchy are the New AEW Trios Champions

The main event of tonight’s (July 20) episode of AEW Collision was a match for the vacant Unified Trios Championship when Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson & The Gunns) took on The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Nick Wayne & Killswitch). 

Considering that a slightly different combination of the Bang Bang Gang was stripped of these very same belts just last week, I didn’t expect the group would bring the gold back home this soon. 

Their downfall happened when Juice Robinson tried to counter Christian’s killswitch finisher with one of his own. Mother Wayne got involved and sprayed Juice in the eyes with something while the referee was distracted. Christian took advantage of a vulnerable Juice to hit his finisher and pin him to the mat for the three count. Just like that, The Patriarchy became the new trios champions.

The best part actually happened after the match was over, when Christian held up all three belts during his team’s celebration.

If you recall, Christian never let anybody else touch the TNT championship, even when Luchasaurus was the rightful titleholder. It looks like Cage might treat the trios belts the same way by being the only person who is allowed to claim possession and physically hold them.
