Andrade El Idolo is setting the record straight: despite rumors and media reports, he insists he never signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He says what took place was negotiations, not a final deal.
He made a surprise appearance on AEW television in early October, attacking a top star — a move that many interpreted as a strong sign he had re-joined the company. But shortly after, he vanished from AEW programming; the reason appears to be a restrictive clause from his former employer, WWE.
Recent reporting reveals that WWE’s newer contracts now include a worldwide non-compete clause lasting up to one year if a wrestler is terminated for cause — as was reportedly the case with Andrade after a Wellness Policy violation. Andrade claims he was unaware of this clause when he re-signed with WWE and says it was only enforced after he reappeared on AEW TV.
