2025 F1 Season Review Why the Lewis Hamilton Ferrari Partnership Struggled

The 2025 Formula One season was full of surprises but few storylines were as shocking as the struggles faced by Lewis Hamilton after joining Ferrari. When the seven time world champion left Mercedes expectations were high that he would form a title contending partnership with one of the sport’s most iconic teams. Instead the season unfolded as one of the most difficult periods in Hamilton’s career and a major disappointment for Ferrari.

Ferrari’s SF25 proved to be inconsistent and lacked the performance to compete regularly at the front of the grid. Despite moments of speed early in the season the car suffered from balance issues and aerodynamic problems that left it behind rivals like Red Bull and McLaren. Technical challenges including disqualifications and post race penalties highlighted deeper flaws that hampered Hamilton’s ability to fight for top positions.

Hamilton endured a challenging year personally with the new team as well. He struggled to adapt to the car’s handling characteristics and faced mechanical setbacks that left him unable to perform at his usual level. Radio communications and public comments reflected the frustration he felt throughout the season and showed that even a driver of his calibre could be impacted by technical and strategic shortcomings.

Ferrari also faced difficulties in strategy and internal communication. Pit wall decisions often resulted in lost opportunities and inconsistent race management compounded the team’s problems. What might have been a season of triumph turned into a string of missed chances and a growing gap between expectations and reality for both driver and team.
