A strong statement from former 125cc world champion Julian Simon has added fresh fuel to the ongoing debate in the MotoGP paddock, as he claimed that Marc Marquez has effectively destroyed Francesco Bagnaia this season. The bold remark reflects the growing perception that Marquez’s resurgence has dramatically shifted the balance of power within Ducati and the wider championship fight.
Marquez’s return to dominant form has been one of the defining narratives of the current MotoGP campaign. After years of battling injuries and inconsistency, the Spaniard has reasserted himself as a relentless force at the front. His aggressive race craft, sharp qualifying pace and renewed physical strength have combined to create a season where he has consistently outperformed expectations. Many observers believe this version of Marquez resembles the rider who once ruled the premier class with authority.
For Bagnaia, the season has unfolded very differently. The Italian entered the year with high expectations and the confidence of a proven title contender.
