Isack Hadjar’s maiden Formula 1 podium was always going to be special, but the young driver’s memories from the cooldown room have made the moment even more memorable for fans. After stepping onto the podium for the first time in his F1 career, Hadjar found himself experiencing a side of race day that seasoned drivers take completely for granted.
Speaking after the race, Hadjar revealed that he was completely unprepared for what happens once the champagne celebrations are over. While sharing the cooldown room with established front runners, he quickly noticed that they had everything planned down to the smallest detail. Fresh clothes, towels and comfortable footwear were already waiting for them as they prepared for post race interviews and media duties.
For Hadjar, it was a very different story. In the excitement of achieving his first podium, he had not thought about bringing any spare gear. Still soaked in sweat and champagne, he jokingly asked his performance coach if a towel or even fresh underwear had been packed for him. The answer, unsurprisingly, was no. As the others calmly changed into clean outfits, Hadjar could only laugh at himself while remaining in his race suit.
The moment highlighted just how new the experience was for the rookie. Podium routines are second nature to drivers who regularly finish in the top three, but for Hadjar it was all happening for the first time. Rather than feeling embarrassed, he embraced the situation with humor and later shared the story with a smile, calling it a valuable lesson for the future.
