The highly anticipated live action adaptation of the popular manga Blue Lock has officially announced its cast and production details. Fans can expect the film to release in summer 2026 in Japan, coinciding with the excitement of the FIFA World Cup. The project is produced by CREDEUS, a studio known for bringing other major manga adaptations to the big screen, and will be distributed by Toho.
Fumiya Takahashi has been cast as the main protagonist Yoichi Isagi, the talented high school forward whose journey to becoming the ultimate striker drives the story. Kaito Sakurai will play Meguru Bachira, a forward with unpredictable dribbling skills, while Kyohei Takahashi of Naniwa Danshi takes on the role of Hyoma Chigiri, another key striker. Kota Nomura will portray Rensuke Kunigami, and Yuzu Aoki and Yuki Tachibana will play Gurimu Igarashi and Gin Gagamaru respectively. Raizo Ishikawa has also been confirmed to join the cast as Jingo Raichi.
The screenplay has been developed in collaboration with the original creators Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura to ensure the adaptation remains faithful to the manga. The cast was selected through a large scale audition of over one thousand applicants and underwent intensive training for over a year to realistically portray soccer action on screen.
