Toto Wolff Urges F1 Rivals to Focus Amid Power Unit Controversy

Mercedes Formula One team principal Toto Wolff has called on rival teams to concentrate on their own performance following concerns over a potential power unit loophole ahead of the 2026 season. Wolff told competitors to get their act together instead of raising complaints, insisting that Mercedes and Red Bull Powertrains are fully compliant with the FIA regulations.

The controversy revolves around the new engine rules which lower the mandated compression ratio to sixteen to one. Some teams have interpreted the rulebook differently, prompting rival manufacturers such as Ferrari Audi and Honda to express concerns. Mercedes has maintained that the interpretation of the regulations is legal and transparent and that any advantage they may gain is within the letter of the law.

Wolff expressed frustration over the secret meetings and letters sent by competitors to the FIA and suggested that these actions are unnecessary distractions. He emphasised that Mercedes is focused on minimizing distractions and developing its own car rather than being preoccupied with protests or speculation.
