Marc Marquez Tops First Day of 2026 Sepang MotoGP Test as Quartararo Withdraws

The 2026 Sepang MotoGP Test kicked off with excitement and drama as riders returned to the Malaysian circuit for pre-season preparations. Marc Marquez made a strong statement by setting the fastest time on the first day, signaling his readiness after recovering from shoulder surgery. Riders and teams used the sessions to test new bikes, update electronics, and fine-tune aerodynamics ahead of the championship.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Maverick Viñales posted competitive lap times, completing the top three. Yamaha faced challenges when Fabio Quartararo crashed in the morning session and later withdrew from the test to recover. Honda, Ducati, Aprilia, and Suzuki all showed promising developments with riders experimenting with setups and tire strategies.

Despite a few minor incidents and offs at various corners, the day ended with teams gathering valuable data to optimize performance for the season. The Sepang test will continue for the next two days with more riders expected to improve lap times and reveal new technical upgrades.
